Hello and welcome!
I am a Ph.D. student & course instructor in the Sociology department at Stony Brook University in New York. Before embarking on my Ph.D., I obtained an M.A. in Human Rights from University College London, and worked full time in intimate partner violence prevention. In addition to the general construction of human rights and international law norms, my research addresses collective memories of post-atrocity contexts like genocide at the national and legal levels. I am especially interested in comparative cases: how do nation states contend with their own shameful histories (via official means like public apologies, memorials, and law), and how and why might these differ by place?
